DU'AA (SUPPLICATION)

Du'aa is a supplication that can be said in any language, at special occasions, or at any time the faithful feels like it or is inspired to do so.  Some Du'aas come from the Holy Quran, others from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as he taught the Companions, yet others come directly from Ahlul Bayt who learned it from the Prophet (pbuh).

Allah says "Ask Me and I will respond."  We are all encouraged to turn our direction to the Almighty and ask Him sincerely about our needs, be they emotional, material, religious or otherwise.  What follows are few short Du'aas whose words can add to the library of your vocabulary.

(This Du'aa is from the Holy Quran and is often said after the Salat is finished.)

SECOND DU'AA

This quotation from the Holy Quran is often said during Qunoot.  Qunoot is desirable (Mustahab) before the Rukoo of the second Rak'a in some school of thoughts, or in Salat of Witr. (This is the choice of the Shi'a Ja'fari School of Thought (Ahlul Bayt).  See Book of Salat in the Series of Islamic Books for Beginners.)

(This Du'aa is from the Holy Quran and is read during Qunoot.)

DU'AA OF UNITY

Du'aa of Unity is very powerful with deep meaning and is often recited after each Salat.  It is recommended that you memorize it to recite it regularly after the Salat.

(This Du'aa can be read after any Salat)

There is no Deity except Allah, One Lord

and to Him we Truly Submit

There is no Deity Except Allah

and we Worship None Except Him

We are Sincere in our Devotion

Even Though the Disbelievers Disdain

There is no Deity Except Allah,

our Lord and the Lord of our Forefathers

There is no Deity except Allah,

He is One, He is One, He is One

He Fulfills His Promise, Helps His Servants

Enhances His Troops

and it is only He who Defeats the Adversaries

His is the Kingdom, and His is the Praise

It is He who Brings Forth Life, and it is He who Takes Life Away

It is He who Takes Away Life and it is He who Brings Forth Life

(This Du'aa can be read during Qunoot or after Salat)

O Allah! Let us be Among the Ones Guided Aright
