Section 0ne:
|
My Lord, if my provisions for my journey to Thee are few, my dependence on Thee will compensate.
 | And if my sin has made me fear Thy punishment, my hope has let me feel secure from Thy vengeance. |
 | And if my misdeed has exposed me to Thy penalty, my good trust in Thee has imparted me of Thy reward. |
 | And if heedlessness has put me to sleep to meet Thee, knowledge has awakened me to Thy munificence and
grace. |
 | And if excessive disobedience and revolt have estranged me from Thee, Thy glad tidings of forgiveness and good
pleasure make me feel intimate with Thee. |
I ask Thee by the splendors of Thy countenance and the lights of Thy holiness, and I implore Thee by the tenderness of Thy
mercy and the gentleness of Thy goodness,
 | to make true my opinion in expecting Thy openhandedness and Thy beautiful favor,
 | through nearness to Thee, |
 | proximity with Thee, |
 | and enjoyment of gazing upon Thee! |
|
Here am I, exposed to the breezes of Thy sparkle and tenderness,
 | having recourse to the plenty of Thy grace and gentleness, |
 | fleeing from Thy displeasure to Thy good pleasure and from Thee to Thee, |
 | hoping for the best of what is with Thee, relying upon Thy gifts, and utterly in want toward Thy guarding!
|
|
Section Two:
|
 | My Lord! Thy bounty which You have begun, - complete it! |
 | Thy generosity which You have given me, - strip it not away! |
 | Thy cover over me through Thy love, - tear it not away! |
 | My unsightly acts which You have come to know, - forgive them! |
|
Section Three:
|
|
My Lord, I seek intercession from Thee with Thee, and I seek sanctuary in Thee from Thee!
 | I have come to Thee craving Thy kindness, |
 | desiring Thy compassion, |
 | quenching my thirst from the cascade of Thy graciousness, |
 | begging rain from the clouds of Thy bounty, |
 | requesting Thy good pleasure, |
 | going straight to Thy side, |
 | arriving at the watering-place of Thy support, |
 | seeking the good things from Thy quarter, |
 | reaching for the presence of Thy beauty, |
 | wanting Thy countenance, |
 | knocking at Thy door, |
 | abasing myself before Thy majesty and might! |
So act toward me with the forgiveness and mercy of which You are worthy!
 | Act not toward me with chastisement and vengeance of which I am
worthy! |
 | By Thy mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful! |
|
