يا نُورُ يا قُدُّوسُ، يا اَوَّلَ الاَْوَّلِينَ وَيا آخِرَ الاْخِرينَ،

اَللّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي الذُّنُوبَ الَّتي تَهْتِكُ الْعِصَمَ،

اَللّـهُمَّ اغْفِـرْ لِي الذُّنُوبَ الَّتي تُنْزِلُ النِّقَمَ،

اَللّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي الذُّنُوبَ الَّتي تُغَيِّـرُ النِّعَمَ،

اَللّـهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لي الذُّنُوبَ الَّتي تَحْبِسُ الدُّعاءَ،

اَللّـهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي الذُّنُوبَ الَّتي تُنْزِلُ الْبَلاءَ،

اَللّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لي كُلَّ ذَنْب اَذْنَبْتُهُ، وَكُلَّ خَطيئَة اَخْطَأتُها،

O Allah!  Who are the light! O Lord! Holiest of the holy!

O You who existed before the foremost! O You who shall exist after the last!

O Allah! Forgive me my such sins as would affront my integrity

O Allah! Forgive me my such sins as would bring down calamity

O Allah! Forgive me my such sins as would change divine favors

O Allah! Forgive me my such sins as to hinder my supplication

O Allah! Forgive me such sins that may bring down misfortunes

O Allah! Forgive my such sins as would suppress hopefulness

O Allah! Forgive every sin that I have committed and every error that I have erred

اَللّهُمَّ اِنّي أَسْأَلُكَ سُؤالَ خاضِع مُتَذَلِّل خاشِع

اَنْ تُسامِحَني وَتَرْحَمَني وَتَجْعَلَني بِقِسْمِكَ راضِياً قانِعاً

وَفي جَميعِ الاَْحْوالِ مُتَواضِعاً،

And I pray to Thee to intercede on my behalf

And I entreat Thee by Thy Love to draw me nearer to Thee

And grant me gratitude to Thee and inspire me to remember and to invoke Thee

To treat me with clemency and mercy,

And to make me pleased and content with what You  allot to me

And cause me to be modest and unassuming in all circumstances

اَللّـهُمَّ عَظُمَ سُلْطانُكَ وَعَلا مَكانُكَ

وَخَفِي مَكْرُكَ وَظَهَرَ اَمْرُكَ

وَغَلَبَ قَهْرُكَ وَجَرَتْ قُدْرَتُكَ

وَلا يُمْكِنُ الْفِرارُ مِنْ حُكُومَتِكَ،

I beseech Thee as one who is passing through great privation

and who supplicates his needs to Thee

and his hope is very high by what is with Thee

Great is Thy kingdom and exalted is Thy greatness

Thy plan is secret, Thy authority is manifest,

Thy might is victorious and it subdues

And Thy power is prevalent throughout

And it is not possible to escape from Thy dominion

لا اِلـهَ إلاّ اَنْتَ سُبْحانَكَ وَبِحَمْدِكَ

ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسي، وَتَجَرَّأْتُ بِجَهْلي

وَسَكَنْتُ اِلى قَديمِ ذِكْرِكَ لي وَمَنِّكَ عَلَيَّ،

Except Thee I find no one who pardons my sins nor to conceal my vile acts,

Nor have I anyone except Thee to transform my ugly deeds into virtues

There is no god but You: Glory and Praise be to Thee, I have made my soul to suffer

I had the audacity by my ignorance

And I relied upon my past remembrance of Thee and Thy grace towards me

اَللّهُمَّ مَوْلاي كَمْ مِنْ قَبيح سَتَرْتَهُ

وَكَمْ مِنْ فادِح مِنَ الْبَلاءِ اَقَلْتَهُ

وَكَمْ مِنْ عِثار وَقَيْتَهُ،

وَكَمْ مِنْ مَكْرُوه دَفَعْتَهُ،

وَكَمْ مِنْ ثَناء جَميل لَسْتُ اَهْلاً لَهُ نَشَرْتَهُ،

How many of my ugly deeds have You concealed

How many of my grievous distress have You reduced in severity

And how many of my stumbles have You protected,

And how many of my hideous acts have You averted,

And how many of the undeserved praises of me have You spread abroad!

وَخَدَعَتْنِي الدُّنْيا بِغُرُورِها، وَنَفْسي بِجِنايَتِها 

وَمِطالي يا سَيِّدي

My trials and anguish have increased

And my vice has worsened, and my good deeds have diminished

And the yoke of my misdeeds has become heavy

And remote hopes restrain me to benefit by doing good deeds

And the world has deceived me with its allurements and my own self is affected by treachery:  Therefore, my Lord!

فَأَسْأَلُكَ بِعِزَّتِكَ اَنْ لا يَحْجُبَ عَنْكَ دُعائي سُوءُ عَمَلي وَفِعالي،

وَلا تَفْضَحْني بِخَفِي مَا اطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ سِرّى،

وَلا تُعاجِلْني بِالْعُقُوبَةِ عَلى ما عَمِلْتُهُ في خَلَواتي

مِنْ سُوءِ فِعْلي وَإساءَتي وَدَوامِ تَفْريطي وَجَهالَتي وَكَثْرَةِ شَهَواتي وَغَفْلَتي،

وَكُنِ اللّهُمَّ بِعِزَّتِكَ لي في كُلِّ الاَْحْوالِ رَؤوفاً

وَعَلَي في جَميعِ الاُْمُورِ عَطُوفاً

And not to disgrace me by exposing my hidden vice which You  know about

Nor to hasten my retribution for those misdeeds committed by me in secret: which were due to passions, ignorance, excessive lustfulness and my negligence

I beg of Thee by Thy greatness to be sympathetic towards me in all circumstances

And well disposed towards me in all matters, O Allah who nurtures me!

فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلي في جَميعِ ذلِكَ وَلا حُجَّةَ لي فيما جَرى عَلَيَّ فيهِ قَضاؤُكَ وَاَلْزَمَني حُكْمُكَ وَبَلاؤُكَ،

And I guarded not myself against the allurements of my enemy who deceived me with vain hopes, thus I was led astray, and the fate helped him in that respect

Thus I transgressed some of its limits set for me by Thee and I disobeyed some of Thy commandments;

You  have therefore the just cause against me in all matters and I have no plea against Thy judgment against me

Thus I am justifiably liable to Thy judgment and hardships

لا اَجِدُ مَفَرّاً مِمّا كانَ مِنّي وَلا مَفْزَعاً اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْهِ في اَمْري غَيْرَ قَبُولِكَ عُذْري وَاِدْخالِكَ اِيّايَ في سَعَة رَحْمَتِكَ

Apologetically, repentantly, broken heartedly, entreating for forgiveness, yieldingly to You my confessing

As I can find no escape from what was done by myself; and having no refuge to which I can turn except seeking Thy acceptance of my excuse and admitting me into the realm of Thy spacious mercy

يا مَنْ بَدَأَ خَلْقي وَذِكْري وَتَرْبِيَتي وَبِرّى وَتَغْذِيَتي

هَبْني لاِبـْتِداءِ كَرَمِكَ وَسالِفِ بِرِّكَ بي

Have mercy on the infirmity of my body,

The delicacy of my skin

And the brittleness of my bones

Originated my creation and my individuality,

And ensured my upbringing and welfare

And provided my sustenance

هَيْهاتَ

اَنْتَ اَكْرَمُ مِنْ اَنْ تُضَيِّعَ مَنْ رَبَّيْتَهُ

اَوْ تُبْعِدَ  مَنْ اَدْنَيْتَهُ اَوْ تُشَرِّدَ مَنْ اوَيْتَهُ

اَوْ تُسَلِّمَ اِلَى الْبَلاءِ مَنْ كَفَيْتَهُ وَرَحِمْتَهُ،

And despite the fact that my heart is filled with knowledge of Thee

And when my tongue has repeatedly praised Thee

And my conscience has acknowledged Thy love

And despite my sincere confessions 

And my humble entreaties submissive to Thy divinity?

To destroy one whom Thyself nourished and enhanced,

or to drive away from Thyself one whom You  have kept under Thy protection,

Or to scare away one whom Thy self has given him shelter,

Or to abandon in affliction the one You have maintained and to whom You  showed mercy

وَعَلى جَوارِحَ سَعَتْ اِلى اَوْطانِ تَعَبُّدِكَ طائِعَةً

وَاَشارَتْ بِاسْتِغْفارِكَ مُذْعِنَةً،

Will You  inflict the fire upon faces which have submissively bowed in prostration to Thy greatness,

Or upon the tongues which have sincerely confirmed Thy unity and have always expressed gratitude to Thee,

Or upon hearts which have acknowledged Thy divinity with conviction,

Or upon the minds which accumulated so much knowledge of Thee until they became submissive to Thee,

Or upon the limbs which strove, at the places appointed for Thy worship, to adore Thee willingly and seek Thy forgiveness submissively?

وَهذا ما لا تَقُومُ لَهُ السَّمـاواتُ وَالاَْرْضُ

And adversity affecting the denizen of this earth, although such afflictions are momentary, short-lived and transient

and of prolonged period and perpetual duration,

and which shall not be alleviated for those who deserve it

since those retributions are the result of Thy wrath;

and Thy punishment

which neither the heavens nor the earth can bear or withstand!

فَهَبْني يا اِلـهى وَسَيِّدِي وَمَوْلايَ وَرَبّي صَبَرْتُ عَلى عَذابِكَ

فَكَيْفَ اَصْبِرُ عَلى فِراقِكَ،

وَهَبْني  صَبَرْتُ عَلى حَرِّ نارِكَ

فَكَيْفَ اَصْبِرُ عَنِ النَّظَرِ اِلى كَرامَتِكَ

اَمْ كَيْفَ اَسْكُنُ فِي النّارِ وَرَجائي عَفْوُكَ

Which of the matters shall I complain to Thee and for which of them shall I bewail and weep?

	Shall I bewail for the pains and pangs of the punishment and its intensity
	Or for the length of sufferings and its duration?

If You subject me to the penalties in company of Your enemies

And cast me with those who deserved Your punishments

And tear me apart from Your friends and those near to Thee:

Though I may patiently bear Thy punishments, how can I calmly accept being kept away from Thee?

And suppose I patiently endure the scorching of Your torment,

	How can I resign myself to the denial of Thy Love and clemency?
	And how can I remain in the fire while I anticipate Thy forgiveness?

وَلاَُنادِيَنَّكَ اَيْنَ كُنْتَ يا وَلِيَّ الْمُؤْمِنينَ،

يا غايَةَ آمالِ الْعارِفينَ،

يا غِياثَ الْمُسْتَغيثينَ، يا حَبيبَ قُلُوبِ الصّادِقينَ، وَيا اِلهَ الْعالَمينَ،

And I shall bemoan for Your nearness to Thee as that of the bereaved,

And I shall keep on calling unto Thee:

Where are You  O' Friend of the believers! O' the aim of the hope of those who know;

يا مَوْلايَ فَكَيْفَ يَبْقى فِي الْعَذابِ وَهُوَ يَرْجُو ما سَلَفَ مِنْ حِلْمِكَ،

اَمْ كَيْفَ تُؤْلِمُهُ النّارُ وَهُوَ يَأْملُ فَضْلَكَ وَرَحْمَتَكَ

اَمْ كَيْفَ يُحْرِقُهُ لَهيبُها وَاَنْتَ تَسْمَعُ صَوْتَهُ وَتَرى مَكانَه

اَمْ كَيْفَ يَشْتَمِلُ عَلَيْهِ زَفيرُها وَاَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ ضَعْفَهُ،

اَمْ كَيْفَ يَتَقَلْقَلُ بَيْنَ اَطْباقِها وَاَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ صِدْقَهُ،

اَمْ كَيْفَ تَزْجُرُهُ زَبانِيَتُها وَهُوَ يُناديكَ يا رَبَّهُ،

اَمْ كَيْفَ يَرْجُو فَضْلَكَ في عِتْقِهِ مِنْها فَتَتْرُكُهُ فيها

Crying out to Thee the way of one who has faith in Thy mercy

And calls out to Thee in the language of those who believe in Thy Oneness

And seeking to approach Thee by means of Your Lordship?

And how can the fire cause him suffering when he hopes for Your Grace and Mercy

And how can its roaring flames char him when You hear his voice and see his plight?

And how can he withstand its roaring flames when You know his frailty?

And how can he be tossed about between its layers when You  know his sincerity?

And how can the keepers of hellfire threaten him when he calls out to Thee?

لكِنَّكَ تَقَدَّسَتْ اَسْماؤُكَ

اَقْسَمْتَ اَنْ تَمْلاََها مِنَ الْكافِرينَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنّاسِ اَجْمَعينَ،

وَاَنْ تُخَلِّدَ فيهَا الْمُعانِدينَ

وَاَنْتَ جَلَّ ثَناؤُكَ قُلْتَ مُبْتَدِئاً، وَتَطَوَّلْتَ بِالاًِنْعامِ مُتَكَرِّماً

اَفَمَنْ كانَ مُؤْمِناً كَمَنْ كانَ فاسِقاً لا يَسْتَوُونَ،

I surely conclude that were it not for the ordained punishment for those who disbelieve in Thee, and have You not decreed Thy enemies to remain in hellfire:

	You would have made hellfire peaceful and cold
	And there would not be a site or a place for anyone in it;

But sanctified is Thy Names, You have sworn to fill hellfire with disbelievers from amongst the jinn and mankind, and deposit Your enemies in it for good

And You, exalted be Thy praises, have made manifest, out of Thy Love and Kindness, that a believer is not like unto him who is a disbeliever.

وَاَنْ تُوَفِّرَ حَظّي مِنْ كُلِّ خَيْر اَنْزَلْتَهُ

اَوْ اِحْسان فَضَّلْتَهُ

اَوْ بِرٍّ نَشَرْتَهُ اَوْ رِزْق بَسَطْتَهُ

اَوْ ذَنْب تَغْفِرُهُ اَوْ خَطَأ تَسْتُرُهُ، يا رَبِّ يا رَبِّ يا رَبِّ

To bestow upon me this night and this very hour the forgiveness for the transgressions I have made

	For all the sins that I have committed,
	For all loathsome acts I have kept secret and
	For all vices done by me, in concealment or outwardly, secretly or openly, and
	For my every wickedness that You  have ordered the two appointed nobles (angels) as scribes to record my actions and to be witnesses over me along with the limbs of my body, whilst You  observe over me besides them and was witness to those acts concealed from them?

Which You  in Thy mercy have kept concealed and through Thy kindness unexposed and

	I pray to Thee to make my share plentiful in all the good that You  do bestow;
	In all the favors that You  do grant; and
	In all the virtues that You  do allow to be everywhere known; and
	In all the sustenance and livelihood that You  do expand
	And in respect of all the sins that You  do forgive and the wrongs that You  conceal

O' Lord! O' Lord! O' Lord!

اَنْ تَجْعَلَ اَوْقاتي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهارِ بِذِكْرِكَ مَعْمُورَةً،

وَبِخِدْمَتِكَ مَوْصُولَةً،

وَاَعْمالى عِنْدَكَ مَقْبُولَةً حَتّى تَكُونَ اَعْمالي وَاَوْرادى كُلُّها وِرْداً واحِداً

وَحالى فى خِدْمَتِكَ سَرْمَداً،

To cause me utilize my time, day and night, in remembering Thee,

By engaging myself in serving Thee, and

To let my deeds be such as to be acceptable to Thee,

	so much so that all my actions and prayers may be transformed into a continuous and sustained effort and
	my life take the form of steady and lasting service to Thee

حَتّى اَسْرَحَ اِلَيْكَ في مَيادينِ السّابِقينَ وَاُسْرِعَ اِلَيْكَ فِي الْبارِزينَ

وَاَشْتاقَ اِلى قُرْبِكَ فِي الْمُشْتاقينَ وَاَدْنُوَ مِنْكَ دُنُوَّ الُْمخْلِصينَ،

وَاَخافَكَ مَخافَةَ الْمُوقِنينَ، وَاَجْتَمِعَ فى جِوارِكَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنينَ،

Strengthen my resolve for Thy service

And empower my resolve to keep on in Thy service

And grant me the eagerness to fear Thee

And to persist and keep on to serve Thee

So that I be one of the forerunners towards Thee along with the vanguards

And be swift towards You among those who rush towards Thee

And be eager to be near You among the keen towards Thee

And draw nigh towards You like them who draw themselves towards Thee

And to fear You like the fear of those who firmly believe in Thee

فَاِنَّكَ قَضَيْتَ عَلى عِبادِكَ بِعِبادَتِكَ،

وَاَمَرْتَهُمْ بِدُعائِكَ، وَضَمِنْتَ لَهُمُ الاِْجابَةَ،

Him who intends evil against me, let that evil befall on him

And him who plots against me, let You frustrate him

And assign for me a place in Thy presence; with the best of Your bondsmen; and the closest abode to Thee,

For verily that position cannot be attained except through Your Favor;

And treat me kindly,

And through Your Grandeur extend Thy largesse towards me

And through Thy mercy protect me

And cause my tongue to accentuate Your remembrance

And my heart to be filled with Thy love

And be liberal toward me by Your Gracious Response

And cause my vices to appear fewer and forgive me my errors.

صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد وَافْعَلْ بي ما اَنْتَ اَهْلُهُ وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلى رَسُولِهِ وَالاَْئِمَّةِ الْمَيامينَ مِنْ آلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْليماً كَثيراً .

Therefore, I ask You by Thy honor to respond to my supplication and let me attain my wishes

And, I ask You by Thy bounty, to frustrate not my hopes

And to protect me from the evilness of my enemies, from among the jinn and mankind

For You  carry out what You  Resolve

O' You! Whose Name is the remedy

And Whose remembrance is the cure for ailments

And obedience to You is the true enrichment;

Have mercy on one whose only asset is hope and whose armor is weeping 

O' You! Who perfects all bounties and wards off all misfortunes!
